North Yorkshire County Council seem to be working part time on installing LED in Scarborough, Cayton Low Road was completed with MA60s replaced with the new white light stuff but the poles retained. However they are since slowly replacing SOX on residential streets.

I'd take photos but I'm not good with people saying stupid things to me as they're passing...

Extremely rare lantern found in Sheffield !
There are three MAZDA Mandoline lanterns in a disused car park off Summerfield Street.
Image

Changing the date on Google Street View reveals that there were a lot more that once lit this car park, and I would safely bet that these three remaining MAZDA Mandolines are the only three in the entire UK.  They look very similar to MAZDA Comete lanterns (which in itself is extremely rare to find in the UK, there are some in York however they are found absolutely everywhere all over France), however the white opaque bowls indicate they are Mandoline lanterns which are apparently specially designed to be mounted at 3 to 4 metres although these have been mounted at 6 metres.

Greetings. I'm still around....

Leeds has been steadily turning LED. The main roads round here got hit a while back, whilst the residential area where I live got hit fairly recently. I only noticed they got done when I looked outside after my CCTV looked very off. A fair few are unlit.

After checking Google Street View, they are Thorn Isaro Pros.

Never been mentioned but Bradford has started LED replacements in June 2021 and are expected to finish by the end of August 2024.

They are replacing approximately 59,000 lanterns and 17,000 lampposts
also using CMS. The conversions is being done by Amey and the lanterns they are using are Philips LumiSteet gen2.

A real shame as Bradford had a lot of interesting street light variety including lots of SOX.

Still survive as of May 2023 GSV,surprising that the site was not redeveloped. Used to be a Saab/Mitsubishi dealership. Demolished some time before 2012, guessing when Saab went bankrupt.

Spotted today, near Doncaster railway station, Concrete Utilities Highway columns (either side of road, and behind the sign and by the tree) including an intact twin bracket.

Nice finds. It’s a shame they have Amperas mounted on them. They would look much better with GEC Z9554s or Thorn Alpha 1s in my opinion,

More from Yorkshire today, Concrete Utilities Highway columns still with their curved brackets at Swinton near Rotherham. Plenty of other main road concretes in the area, although many are sleeved.

Find of the day whilst on the train was on the other side of the line to Liberty Steels at Rotherham. There is another steel works, Google maps says BBR, but there is no imagery from that area. The BBR yard has a number of abandoned 10m/30ft Stewarts and Lloyds steel columns with big arched brackets, both single and double with 135W SOX lanterns on them, but deep bowled, possibly Alpha 5s but could also be Eleco GR150s. Some lanterns are missing bowls. There is a Youtube video passing the site here.

Screen grab of the columns at time 38:35.
