Cobham Road Sunningdale
A Zeta Specialist Lighting SmartScape Nano (ugliest Street light fixture ever made) side entry tied on the top of a top entry concrete column. Come on Royal Borough of Windsor & Maindenhead you can do better. Let’s not also forget that Sunningdale is one richest and most expensive place to live outside London and it is located near Titlark Hill Road the most expensive street in UK outside London. The average price of a house on that road is £12.3 million. Come on seriously you can definitely do better and it is not a temporary installation as it was like that from 2017.

Right, out of all the examples listed on this thread, this takes the cake. What the hell were they thinking? Why not just chop the bracket off and fit a sleeve, or replace the column instead?

In my opinion, post-top Urbis Sapphire 2s don’t work well! Spotted this example on Yunus Khan Close in Walthamstow, which annoyingly replaced an Industria 2015. It’s way too bulbous for that 5m column!

Post top Sapphires 2 don’t look that bad.  They were used on shorter columns between before the Sapphire 1 was released in 2002 whereas the Sapphire 2 came out five years earlier in 1997.  There where some of these on Stanley Close in Wanborough near Swindon the street was built in 1999 if you look on Rightmove. They are probably now replaced with LED.

Meanwhile, using a Sapphire 3 at this height would look even worse, because using main road lanterns on side roads isn't always the smartest thing to do.

Post-top Sapphire 2s don’t look all bad, but seeing one on such a short column is weird, in my opinion. Also, I didn’t know the Sapphire 2 was released in 1997! I always thought it was released around the same time as the Sapphire 1, so thanks for clarifying that! I believe the example I mentioned is NOS, as the Sapphire range was discontinued by then.

The Sapphire 3 was the last to come out in 2004.
Don’t know if it’s the exact years they came but that’s what it says  on phozagora.free.fr. Great website but it’s in mostly in French so you have to use Google translate.

Spotted the most bizarre and downright sloppy casual replacement on street view that made me chuckle! Sadly this installation is long gone, but this Urbis Furyo 3 was mounted onto a 4m octagonal column, which previously held a Thorn Beta 79 up until 2009. Clearly, the lantern barely fits onto that side-entry adapter!
