Ah, thanks for the vote! I showed Stelmer that as well, when he dropped off the alpha 9. He liked the way the light shone off the refractor. When the bowl is open, it looks like a bluey white light, but with the bowl closed it is a very green colour. I had to keep opening the bowl just to have a look at it - but it is risky becase (a) those antenae holding the arc tube are live, and (b) if the arc tube exploded then there'd be no protection from it (with the bowl open)

Don't forget about C) that the exposure of the lamp could blind you because of no protection except the bowl.

There is now less than 48 hours to run for the voting. We presently have less votes than normal, and one vote that will be shifted down to the next picture in the list if the vote is not changed before poll closing time

We've entered deadlock!
images 1 and 5 are tied, and so the vote goes to the next stage: light-off!

They are not MA50 but its cursor, the Philips SRM.

The MA50,60,90/SRS201 series is based on this lantern.

I'm a bit disappointed that mine made it to the light-off and then fell at the last hurdle but I must admit that the winning picture is pretty unique. I would never have thought about taking a picture at the base of a column looking upwards.

By the way, what happened to my picture in the light-off? Did I upload it to the wrong place?
