Hello everyone!

Now that we are on our new home, we have a way to upload photos, and a way to display the winning POTM on the homepage without me having to log in to FTP to edit the site manually, we can now have ourselves a photo competition.

For new members, the rules are that you can upload any 2 photo's from your streetlighting pictures to this thread - the photos must have been taken by yourself and must have a streetlight playing a key part in the picture. Photo's that have won previous POTM competitions (and thus are in the gallery) cannot be entered again, and neither can photos entered into a POTM competition within the past 3 months (yeah, I know it's been July since the last POTM, but I plan to link to/copy these rules across for future POTM threads!)

preferrably the photos will be a minimum resolution of 640px wide by 480px high, and no more than 1024px wide by 768px high

If you don't have a photo hosting account at imageshack, photobucket, or other similar sites (not fotopic - images linked to from fotopic sites don't work), you can simply click POST A REPLY, then below the textbox for your reply you can click the link "Add an image to your post" and follow the instructions in the pop-up window (and repeat the process for the second image).

Please remember to include a description for each image, as a winning image will go complete with description onto the homepage.

This thread will remain open for entering your photo's until Friday November 27th (or likely early hours of saturday morning!)

Well I do have one, it's not terribly good but I didn't think it was too bad.

Here's mine: "Catenary lighting as far as the eye can see"

Image

This photo is the thankfully very straight A4 in West London, and features approximately two miles of unbroken catenary street lighting from near the Osterley Underground station to Henly's Roundabout. The photograph was taken in June 2009.

Just as a note, I have altered attachment setting so any images over 800pixels wide as an attachment will now be shown as a link... this is so those viewing on smaller monitors don't have to scroll side-to-side with each line of text. Also, the attachment quota limit presently set is 50mb - if you're having trouble with the "add an image to your post" link on the page where you create a message, then let me know...
