I've seen one or two like that round this way... but they look better because the tops are black!

Neath, now called Mercury City! Some rather nice finds from a visit to Neath last wednesday night, it seemed most streets had a mercury lamp of some sort burning away  :D

The tell-tale bright white glow of this beauty was spotted from about half-mile away.

I've never seen a side-entry lantern like this before, missing its bowl it seems.
http://tinyurl.com/325ytau

Exchange road had a couple of Belltops glowing away quietly..
http://tinyurl.com/3xw8mwf
http://tinyurl.com/36x72ff (Side entry again)

Osborne street has two Eleco silver rays(?)
http://tinyurl.com/2vt7w65
Whittington street has one
http://tinyurl.com/2wz94vg
Most of the columns around the area had exactly the same columns and brackets, but with a SOX lantern. Guess they changed out a lot of the mercurys for SOX a while ago.

I dont know what lantern this is, but its the last still burning mercury around this roundabout.

Cimla Crescent has about 4 of these post tops burning mercury
http://tinyurl.com/3yrunbh
So does 'The Hollins'
http://tinyurl.com/35k8ta5

In fact there are so many mercury post-tops remaining in the Cimla area, i'd be here all night putting them up! I estimate from a quick drive around the Cimla area, I saw about 20-25!

Now a couple of lanterns for the SOX guys on here

Old road, Cwrt Sart

Briton Ferry road
http://tinyurl.com/35z2s6z

There are quite a few of these top-entry lanterns in the streets around Windsor Road.

I did notice that quite a majority of the lanterns featured here, and many of the sleeved columns I saw, were Revo. Did towns get their streetlamps from one supplier for any length of time?

Mike.

GEC Small Oxford Z556X, amazing to see one with an original "acorn" bowl although it may be from another model of those GEC lanterns such as the Z5540, small Wembley which had a formed sheet metal rather than cast canopy.

Nice finds there. I so want to move to Wales....

Going trail riding (green laning) in Mid Wales early July and this time I am taking lots of images. One place that intreagues me is a small town with what looks like main road mercury GEC's on metal columns that look awesome.
