Ok folks, this is the last POTM this year (I'd also say "of the decade" but we've only been doing this for a year anyway!!). Rules are in this thread, and as the POTM's of Ukastle 2 were all months and months ago, please be aware that you may be able to re-enter any pics from those into this competition if you so wish (for example if there's a decent snow picture or something similar). Anyway, 2 pics per person max... and where possible please use the IMAGE UPLOAD AND HOSTING link of the 'post a reply' page to upload your photo as opposed to the Image Attachment function (but use the Attachment function if the upload link doesn't work). Closing date for entries is saturday 19th december (or just into the small hours of the 20th!)... this will enable us to have a winning image before the xmas break. |

Here is mine, the nearest column dates from 1907, the far one from 1914. They are fitted with Eleco HW509 90W SOX lanterns although these have just been replaced with DW Windsor Strand SON lanterns and the columns painted black. So this image records a scene now lost. Shame there are always car parked in the vicinity... Caption: 200 years of lighting service (almost!) |

I've tried to keep my offering seasonal with this image of a working gas light in Millington Road Cambridge, pictured during heavy snowfall in February 2009.
